Sixties Sojourn is an initiative of Connection Matters Radio

The Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Songs of All Time (Part 2)

Sunday 7 June 2020 at 3pm on 3KND – 1503AM – or the I Heart Radio App

Here we go with part two of the ambitious “play all 196 songs from the sixties that have been included in the Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Songs of all Time.” Phew. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for several years, and with Sixties Sojourn returning to 3KND for the duration of the coronavirus social restrictions, it’s the perfect time.

Here are just some of the artists taking to the stage during the show.

We Gotta Get Out Of This Place – The Animals

Initially intended to be performed by The Righteous Brothers, The Animals were given the song to record in 1965. It became immensely popular with American troops serving in the Vietnam War. With the powerful blues-rock voice of lead vocalist Eric Burdon, the song delivers a raw appeal that gives it a true edge.

The Show’s Playlist

Here’s the complete playlist that went to air during the show. If you missed out, then don’t forget – whatever you do – to tune in to the next Sixties Sojourn program!
