The Top 60 Songs from the 1968 US Billboard Hot 100

Sunday 17 May 2020 at 3pm on 3KND – 1503AM – or the I Heart Radio App

The US Billboard Hot 100 singles of 1968 featured some of the most enduring songs of the sixties. On today’s show we count down from number 60 to number 1; and it’s a show you really don’t want to miss.

Sixty amazing tracks that took the United States – and most of the world – by storm during a year that brought us true classics. And you’ll hear the best 60 of them on Sixties Sojourn.

Shown below are just some of the artists featuring in the show.

Otis Redding

Jose Feliciano

Pictures of Matchstick Men – Status Quo

While it may have been Status Quo’s only hit single in the US, Pictures of Matchstick Men is wonderful with its opening four-note riff that gives it a totally unique introduction. Written by the group’s co-founder, leader singer and guitaris Francis Rossi, three-quarters of the song was composed while he sat “on the bog” in order to get away from his wife and mother-and-law.
